Urgency of the Hour!

Harvest Time - Urgent Hour

The Lord said in John 4:35 (TPT), “Why would you say, ‘The harvest is another four months away’? Look at all the people coming—now is harvest time! Their hearts are like vast fields of ripened grain—ready for a harvest.”

“Their hearts are like vast fields of ripened grain.”  As we look at what is happening in the world, and the people that we pass each day, what is our response to them?  The Lord says that they are the harvest and that their hearts are like ripen grain ready for the picking.  When Jesus saw the crowds of lost people, we see how He responded in Matthew 9:36 (TPT) “When he saw the vast crowds of people, Jesus’ heart was deeply moved with compassion, because they seemed weary and helpless, like wandering sheep without a shepherd.”

This is an accurate picture of so much of the world we encounter today- they are weary, helpless, and wandering.  What is our response to what we see?  Are we moved with despair, confusion, frustration, depression, and hopelessness by what we see?  The Lord is calling us to respond to the harvest, as He did: to be “deeply moved” and filled with compassion to reach the harvest whose hearts are ripe.  He is calling us to ARISE and SHINE as Isaiah 60 says.  He is calling us to carry Isaiah 61 to these desperate hearts- “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;”

It’s harvest time, and the Lord is calling us to see the harvest of people as He sees them and allow our hearts to be filled with compassion and the urgency of the hour.

So as the prophetic word goes out, “It’s Harvest Time”, let’s press in for 4 things:

  1. Ask the Lord to transform our own hearts, removing the rocky hard places that bring judgment and condemnation to those around us.
  2. Ask the Lord to give us a heart of compassion to bring forth the message of hope to those around us. He has called us to walk out Isaiah 60 and 61.  Arise and Shine, for the Spirit of the Lord is upon us and He has anointed us to bring GOOD NEWS and restore those who are broken and lost!
  3. Pray for the laborers, which is us, to be sent into the harvest. Matthew 9:37 (TPT) says, “He turned to his disciples and said, “The harvest is huge and ripe! But there are not enough harvesters to bring it all in.” Pray for opportunities to share the Good News and be obedient as opportunities arise.
  4. Remember that He is the Lord of the Harvest!  Don’t grow weary in well doing, for He is the One who has declared “It’s Harvest Time” and He is faithful to His Word.
