Remembering the EMPTY Tomb

Imagine that morning, the early hours of a breaking dawn where darkness fought a futile battle against the encroaching day.  Go there in your heart and see the fear stricken guards bathed in a cold sweat and paralyzed by fear, they resembled dead men. The sound of light birthed panic in their souls as a fierce majestic angel from The Presence of The Lord, broke seals and rolled the gravestone away. See him, clothed in The Glory of the King he serves and represents!  The picture of strength, he rolled the stone aside, then sat on it! I just love him! He’s my favorite angel in the passion narrative cause I bet he has a great sense of humor!  I can envision him smiling as he sits on that stone!  Ha! He knows Jesus is not there!  The tomb is empty!  He doesn’t roll the stone away so Jesus can get out!  NO!  He rolled the stone aside and sat on it, so the world could WITNESS the fact that Jesus was NOT there!  The MESSIAH, Jesus, Savior of the world was risen!!  He is risen indeed!

And so, during this Passover ~ Resurrection Season, we pause to REMEMBER and give thanks:

  1. Christ our Passover Lamb, God’s Lamb was crucified for our sins, paying our ransom in His own blood – He is our great Redeemer! Indeed, Prophet Isaiah was right when he said, But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was   upon him, and by his stripes we are healed.  All of us like sheep have gone astray; each of us has turned to his own way, but the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
  2. We are FORGIVEN! The cry of our Lord from the Cross, “It is finished,” brought initial closure to a divine transaction.   This ancient Biblical Greek term tetelestai, was typically used in commerce at that time. It was written across a bill to indicate that the bill was paid in full. We remember, celebrate and give thanks for the resurrection because it is the receipt – it’s the proof God gave us to settle the fact that Jesus’ death did, indeed, pay the full price for our sins.  Hallelujah!
  3. Christ our Resurrected Savior is Lord, God and The King of Glory! This one speaks for itself.   Everyone else who was ever resurrected, died again (Lazarus, Jairus daughter, Eutychus) – But NOT JESUS!  He is ALIVE forevermore!  Jesus’ resurrection without human agency is implicit proof of His claim to deity, it validates all His miracles and echoes throughout eternity as clear evidence that every Word He spoke is true!  He IS God!
  4. He is our LIVING HOPE! Where would we be without faith in Him and a clear promise from His Word, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”  — John 3.16.

As a recipient of His EXTREME GRACE and INDESCRIBIBLE LOVE take time during this Holy Season to give Him praise for all He has done, all He is doing and all He will do in your life because He LIVES!  Let Judah go first and sing in your heart with me…

Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me

I once was lost, but now I’m found was blind, but now I see

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear and grace my fears relieved

How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed

My chains are gone, I’ve been set free

My God, my Savior has ransomed me

And like a flood His mercy reigns

Unending love, Amazing grace

Christ The Lord is Risen!  He is risen indeed!
