I can feel Holy Spirit’s gentle tug on my heart to press into a deeper place of prayer! Can’t you? I mean, where else should we go or can we go, when the world is as chaotic, frenetic and lawless as it is? I want to run into the Secret Place and REST in the embrace of my Bridegroom King! In fact, I dreamt on Thursday morning, that I was getting up very early in the morning – before the sun rose and going for daily runs with Helen.
Put a bookmark there and let me explain. In real time/real life, Helen is a friend of mine that I do CrossFit with (at least five times a week). She also is one of the coaches at CrossFit Downriver and is poised to assist me with coaching at CrossFit 523 in Westland. Helen is a super athlete, 4th degree black belt Master Instructor in Tae Kwon Do, Marathon runner, endurance bike race athlete and nutrition specialist for both Affiliates. Her passion is strength, conditioning and phenomenal endurance! Phenomenal ENDURANCE! As a coach, her voice sticks in your head, playing like an un-erasable tape that holds you accountable no matter where you are! She is priceless to both Kirk (head coach of CFDR and myself)!!!
Now…back to the dream! I think it’s awesome that Holy Spirit would use her as a symbol of spiritual endurance and the call to run the race with diligence… a symbol of the call to “get up a great while before day” and spend focused passionate time RUNNING with The Lord in prayer and the awesome ADVENTURES that come with following Him into the depths of RADICAL INTIMATE DISCIPLESHIP (see Mark 1.35)!! Helen (in real time/real life) LOVES TO RUN! And so should YOU and I!! That’s right!!! We should love to lace up our SUPERNATURAL SHOES, find a charted path and run the race with HIM, building strength in the ‘inner man,’ growing in discernment, love, grace, perseverance, wisdom and all the other things that are birthed in faithful “spiritual workouts.”
These scriptures come to mind as I play again in my heart, Holy Spirit’s video to me, affectionately called dreaming:
- Proverbs 18:10 The Name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.
- Song of Songs 1:4 Draw me after you, let us run…
- Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.
- Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are encompassed with such a great cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
In 2017, let’s reacquaint ourselves with early morning ‘time alone with Jesus’ prayer closet prayer! I’m lacing up my shoes…
God loves YOU and so do I…
Endurance Runner with Jesus!
